Suspended: Preserving the Ephemeral through Flora
Ephemerality, a time of transition, lasting for only a fleeting moment, is captured in this installation of living cut flowers enveloped in resin. It causes the viewer to pause, admire the beauty of the seemingly living subject and watch them as they slowly wither away, despite the artist’s best efforts to preserve them. It then prompts the viewer to consider the characteristics of ephemerality and how this concept expands past cut flowers and into all living things.
